The main purpose of the Investment Forum was to attract investment interest to Silistra and to put an accent on the business opportunities offered by the border position of the town in relation to Romania and Moldova. Multimedia presentations of the investment climate in the region, promotion of Silistra new marketing materials, prepared with the joint efforts of experts within the framework of the Technical Twinning Program, and the experience shared by businessmen who had invested in the region, have greatly contributed to the accomplishment of the forum objectives. After the official part of the Forum a visit to the sites suitable for investments was organised.

The joint projects realized and the beneficial cooperation of many years between the Municipality of East Staffordshire and the Municipality of Kurdjali has allowed the residents of both municipalities to feel closer together and to get to know each other. The quality of the administrative services delivered to the residents of the Municipality of Kurdjali has increased. The experience shared has added concrete practices and European models to the knowledge of the municipal administration.

Since the beginning of 2001 RAM Trakia has been working on a Transboundry Program, which includes activities for expanding the cooperation between the municipalities from the Bulgarian, Turkish and Greek part of the Trakia region, as well as stimulating the development of a regional policy with regard to Bulgaria s integration into the European Union. An official agreement has been signed between RAM Trakia and the Turkish Association of Municipalities Trakia Kent and forthcoming is the signing of a similar agreement with the Greek Association Trakia Polis .
