The active participation in the preparation of Bulgaria for joining the EU is a priority of the Municipality of Sliven. A lot of work has been done in the areas of extension and improvement of the work in these domains. The local authorities are convinced that for the realization of successful integration of our country in the Eurozone a very important part is the good partnership between the local, regional authorities and the community.

The stages of implementation of the practice are as follows:

- Proposing to the regional governor of the Region of Sliven the establishment of a Regional Council for European Integration(RCEI);

- A meeting with representatives of the other municipalities in the region, non-economic organizations and Euro Clubs for establishing a common strategy of action;

- Preparing the program, set up act and strategy for the work of the council;

- Carrying out a meeting of RCEI;

- Establishment of Municipal centers for European Integration in the Municipalities of New Zagora, Kotel, Tvarditza;

- Carrying out the monthly meetings of the council.

The Regional Council for European Integration includes the Regional Governor, the Chairmen of the Municipal Council, the mayors of four municipalities of the region, RCEI of the Municipality of Sliven, Euro Clubs in the region, Eurocenter FRDS, Regional Center for Economic Development and other non-economic organizations, working in the field of European integration. Total for the region 25 members/participants.

As a result of the implementation of the practice a local (regional) model for decentralization of the information and communication activities, popularizing the EU would be established. The creation of this new structures leads to a better cooperation between the institutions working in the field of European integration, creates a better atmosphere for work with the citizens and provokes their participation in the process of eurointegration.
