The preparation of Bulgaria for joining the EU is a priority of the Municipality of Sliven. In order the integration of Bulgaria in United Europe to be successful, a major/big common discussion is required, as well as informing the citizens and the institutions on every level for the challenges, priorities and obligations coming from our membership with the EU. Although the wide spread information among the citizens of Sliven and the representatives of institutions still there is a hunger for information about Europe and the EU; people see the necessity of more profound knowledge in this domain. A research among the citizens shows that many of them (mostly the one living in small villages) are not familiar with what is already done for the integration of our country in the EU, that the negotiation progress is linked to closing negotiation chapters in different sectors of the socio economic life of our country. These and a lot of other problems were discussed in front of citizens of Sliven during the info meetings and seminars.

The internet portal is created in result of the realization of project Sliven- European perspectives and challenges in partnership with the Municipality of Sliven, in the framework of the Communication Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria for integration in the European Union. This is also the official site for Eurointegration of the Municipality of Sliven.

The created information Internet portal gives to every internet user in the region the opportunity to keep up with everything happening on regional, national or international level, dealing with European integration, European programs, meetings, laws etc .

It s recommended that in every municipality should be created a section dealing with the European integration, informing the community about this process, as well as establishing an information center with a free access to information.
