The active participation in the preparation of Bulgaria for joining the EU is a priority of the Municipality of Sliven. A lot of work has been done in the areas of extension and improvement of the work in these domains. The local authorities are convinced that for the realization of successful integration of our country in the Eurozone a very important part is the carrying out of wide common debates, which have to provide more people with information about the challenges, the priorities and the obligations, coming from the membership of our country with the European Union.
With the establishment of a local Euro Club strong and permanent frameworks would be created for providing information and consultations about the European Integration, the process of enlargement and the results of joining the EU.
The participants in the activities, set in the present practice, are the mayor of the Municipality, representatives of the local and regional authorities and businesses, local organizations and media. The establishment of the Euro Club Sliven would go through the following stages:
- Preparation for carrying out a meeting of the representatives of local associations, organizations, businesses and media for discussing the benefit of the creation of a club like this one on a local level
- Creation of the program and the status of the club;
- The set up and creation of administrative council of the club;
- The carrying out of lecture about the role of the Euro Clubs and the need of creating municipal centers for eurointegration.
The present practice for the establishment of a Euro Club on local level (municipality), would be a new model, working for the development of the municipality and for its affiliation to the European standards. This way the aim of the project Europe in the region of Sliven - tradition with future would be reached: the creation of permanent frameworks for providing information and giving consultations, combined with the organizing and the carrying out of information and communication activities, giving the possibilities for increasing the information stock of the local communities about the European Union, as well as the programs of the EU open for Bulgaria.
