Background
The basic groups include kids and teenagers between 16-25 years, who live on the street orwho have the risk to be homeless.
Practice
Based on the understanding that to be without home is not a permanent occurrence, the activities of the project were: practical work; social psychological work; distance work with young people, who are arrested; program “Youth committee”; “Program for working with young parents”; barristers’ offices; trainingin social abilities; workplaces for development of skills; work with the young people’s children between 0 and 5 years and others.During the last period the center worked with over 200 young people, and also with 39 children and 9 families of kids and teenagers “in risk”.
Results
Through the implementation of the activities and programs of the project, part of the young people, leading street lifestyle, preferred, instead of living on the street, to stay in YDCC “16+” and to include in the programs of the center. YDCC “16+” becomes a more attractive place for the homeless youths, most of whom are minority born, which lead to better attendance. The time spent in high-risk environment, such as street, was reduced and so were the events of immoral behavior. In the programs of Day Care Center the youths found a secure environment in which they are trained in many skills.
