The project titled "Do not kill your dreams!" has been realised by the "Razvitie" community centre in partnership with the Municipality of Peshtera. This is model project, which proved visible results in the efforts to reinforce a different social culture and attitudes towards problems related to the drugs addiction and use among young people. Another aspect of the project idea was to encourage the youth participation in the project implementation and decision-making process. The main objectives of the initiative were to increase the awareness and sensitise the local community towards existing problems of the young generation and encourage an approach involving young people teaching other young people about the harmful effect from the use of drugs.

For a period of 8 months disabled children were actively involved in free time initiatives and natural social inclusion into the community by means of an innovative approach, based on socialisation through arts and various communication techniques, fostering better life and professional realisation. These activities and work with the children also helped the raise of confidence of the youngsters and their integration in the society working with local craftsmen and getting to know better the local traditions and culture and using innovative ways of work.

A new professional child centre has been created, aiming at providing rehabilitation and consultative services to children with special educational needs and having speech problems and with slight mental problems. For a first time the teachers and the parents of such children work together to compensate and correct the disabilities of the children. The children with special educational needs have the possibility to take part in entertainment and educational activities together with their friends from other schools.

The establishment of an information centre within the Zarya community centre in the village of Vakarel ensured access to information from various administrations, organisations and institutions and on-line resources. Such an access was not available before the implementation of the project, which brought discomfort and informational isolation for the local community, especially among young people.

For a first time ever in the village of Ilindentsi has been established a daily child centre I can do this! , which provided broad possibilities for the young people and pupils from the village to be involved in creative and entertainment activities. More than 40 children took part in the activities of the Centre. Among the main areas, in which several interest groups have been formed, were folklore, drawing, creative art and sports. The active involvement of the children and their high interest in after-school activities came to show that the Child Centre is a successful initiative creating good opportunities for the young people in the community and at the same time a new formula to encourage their social life.

The project created favourable conditions for better access to new computer technologies and communication for the whole community of the village, especially focusing on the young Roma children and these from poor families. The young people had the possibility to get involved in activities and training initiatives improving their skills and knowledge in the field of computer use, Internet, e-mail and Microsoft Office. Added value to the project has been the increased awareness and understanding, as well as social responsibility within the children towards the problems of the poor people in the community.

The realisation of the project ensured access to sports and interesting free time activities as an alternative way to spend the leisure time of the children from the village. The project initiated the reconstruction and renovation of sports facilities in the village; the young people were involved in many sport initiatives and took part in interesting contests. The existing sport facility was destroyed and unused and due to the project efforts it turned into a new and attractive space for sport activities and games.

This project provided equal access to information and practical skills to work with new technologies to children and adults in the village of Pchelin. Equal opportunities for access to the labour market and increased competitiveness have been created. Within the project framework a new computer room has been renovated (in the Community Centre) and 50 people have undergone long-term computer training. The designed project activities created a favourable environment for skills development, initiatives and teamwork among the local community. The implementation of the project had a strong effect and improved the self-confidence of the young people in the village of Pchelin.

As a response to the tendency of increased child crime, harmful addictions, aggression and risks of use of drugs among the young people in the Municipality of Bobov dol, the school board united and directed its efforts towards creating good conditions for partnership between local institutions, parents and their children at risk, in order to increase the awareness and encourage preventive actions against these negative social characteristics.

A new youth organisation has been established, through which the young people in the municipality could realise their initiatives and take active part in the public life in the municipality of Strumyani. The youth organisation provoked the interest and unlocked the potential for organised efforts among the young people through interactive work, capacity building for project development and implementation. Another aspect of the initiative was the possibility for the young people to take part in the process of decision-making at the local level. Added value to the project was the possibility for the newly-born youth organisation to take action against some of the negative social effects at the local level provoked by crime, drugs addiction, and lack of interesting ways to spend the free time of the young population in the municipality.
