FLGR continues to organise and implement activities supporting the local capacity building for sustainable rural development and preparation of a team of experts within the country, who can assist their local communities in the process the future successful application of the LEADER approach in Bulgaria.

A series of follow-up training initiatives was organised within the Rural Network and LEADER project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, the UNDP and FLGR. The training seminars were held on 4 5 September in Plovdiv and 7- 8 September in Veliko Turnovo. 50 participants from the country had the chance to improve their knowledge and understanding on topics like mobilisation of local communities; the process of establishment of the Local Action Group; major aspects of the local strategic planning and the development of the Local Development Strategies; presentation of the draft measures under axes 3 and 4 of the National Rural Development Plan of Bulgaria.

All these themes are directly linked with the future work and efforts to be undertaken at the local community level in the establishment of the Local Action Groups and elaborating their local strategies.
