Study Tour

In the framework of he Improving Bulgarian Local Government Integrity Project a study tour was realized to four Dutch cities. Part of the group were mayors, secretaries, chief experts of Bulgarian municipalities, participating the project.
 
The study tour took place in the period 29 March – 4 April 2008. The representatives of the Bulgarian municipalities had the possibility to examine the practice of their colleagues in the Netherlands in the field of improvement of the local government integrity.
 
Rules on ethical behaviour of the civil servants, the work of the Integrity Bureau of the City of Amsterdam, and the BIBOB Mechanism (law that introduced in 1999 investigation of the integrity of applicants for licences and subsidies), and also the results of an international survey of integrity in some of the biggest cities – New York, Hong Kong, Amsterdam – of the Amsterdam Free University were presented to the Bulgarian delegation. 
The Bulgarian Local Government Integrity project is been carried out in Bulgaria in the period May 2007 – April 2009 by a Consortium of 4 NGOs: NGO Links, Bulgaria, Center for Liberal Strategies, Bulgaria, Foundation for Local Government Reform, Bulgaria, and transForma, Romania.
