Eleven years ago group of enthusiasts established a pensioner s club, called Don t get old . Throughout years this community did not have appropriate premises that to respond to its needs. Still it continued to exist and function as community of common interests, contacts and public engagement.
Since summer 2004 the new mayor administration is engaged in providing appropriate conditions and partnership initiatives, beneficial both for the club members and the whole village.
Pensioner s club functions as civic association. Throughout the years it has acted as a partner of mayor administration, Prosveta chitalishte and local primary school. The club established contacts, good relationships and joint initiatives with other clubs within the municipality and clubs from Oriahovo, village of Butan, Porden and Byala Slatina.
In August 2003 10-year anniversary of the club was celebrated within implementation of project Change of municipal policies and practices for work with elderly people and people with disadvantages . This event turned in a village holiday. Club members met their friends from other clubs, presented exhibition Living style of Krushovitsa dwellers, fertility of our land and talents of our children , various art program and entertainment. Club members shared their confidence that elderly people are motivated and enthusiastic to participate in overall village activities.
Messages and wishes for future work and new forms of organization proved that this form of associating common interests has a clear point of view. This view is presented in the new mayor s program. He managed to provide opportunity for elderly people to implement their activities in appropriate and pleasant atmosphere, receiving needful support.
Result of this support is the opened equipped premises in chitalishte building, where pensioner s club and association of disabled people implement their activities.
On September 10, 2004 was the official opening ceremony with entertaining program, presented by elderly people. Mayor of municipality and club friends congratulated the pensioner s club and shared their confidence in consolidation of civil initiatives and active participation of population in decision making process and village s activities.
A program of partnership initiatives with mayors and municipality was accepted. Work on accepted municipal plan for celebration of International Day of Elderly People is in process. The pensioner s club will host a big municipal event. On stage of Prosveta chitalishte a theater play will be given.
The pensioner s club and the association of disabled people in Village of Krushovitsa are active participants and support municipal administration in the process of establishing social services network.
Elderly people in Village of Krushovitsa have appropriate premises for their needs. Work teams are formed and partnership initiatives with municipal administration and NGOs are initiated. More elderly people become club members and adopt the idea of the club as a place for contact establishment, events and opportunity to feel useful and affiliated to the rest of the community.
The result of club work is of long-term effect. Elderly people will share their skills and knowledge with youngsters in order to assure continuity.
The new established club will be a place for communication, cooperation work for assuring support and sustainability for elderly people. This is a responsibility of municipal administration in order to provide opportunity for socialization of elderly and disabled people. A dialog between mayoralty, municipality and civic associations is started, bringing up productive results.
