Background
The collaboration agreement was signed in year 2003 during the traditional holiday of wine in Svishtov Svishtov Vineyards . Representatives of the two municipalities exchanged visits and agreed to cooperate in the areas of economics, trade, tourism, education, and culture.

Practice

In the beginning of May, 2004, the youth folklore dance group Danube Youth received an invitation to participate in the international folklore festival Veles in the town of Veles, Macedonia.

In June, a delegation, lead by the Mayor of Svishtov Plamen Aleksandrov and the Director of Legal Administrative and Information Providing Department at the Municipality, Stoian Parashkevov, visited Veles and took part in the festival. Visiting Veles, participation in the festival and meeting with the local community gave a unique opportunity to the young people of Svishtov to get familiar with the specific Macedonian culture and find new friends.

In September 2004, a youth folklore dance group from Veles visited Svishtov and participated in the traditional holiday of wine Svishtov Vineyards .

Results
The collaboration expanded Svishtov's possibilities to share best practices and information with cities with similar problems and development.
