In July 2002, the Community center of Kozlovets won 17 900 lv. for a project, named Opportunities Center . The project was a part of the Community Centers Program, held by the Ministry of Culture. The main goals of the project was to train 20 unemployed citizens and 10 citizens in poor financial condition to plant roses and offer them a opportunity to practice their new skills.
The project team held a training course in rose planting for 20 unemployed citizens and 10 citizens in poor financial condition. A total of 10 decrees of the Community center property were cultivated and planted with roses. The local authorities actively supported the project by cooperation in the process of choosing the project participants among the unemployed and the people in poor social state in the village. Also, they provided the training equipment, tables, chairs, etc.
The innovation practice was publicly introduced at the all-village gathering, celebrating the opening of the training center. The United Nations Program for Development contributed financially to the project realization. The USAID and Program MATRA of the Netherlands Government also significantly supported the initiative.
Project s main benefit was discovering a new way of making a living for the local population of Svishtov. A total of 30 trainees cultivated and planted 10 decrees of roses.
