Municipality of Radnevo
Background
As the mayor of Radnevo is a firm believer that immediate contact with the citizens is one of the most important tasks of a mayor elected at large, he introduced the practice of annual reports to the public to complement the regular meetings with citizens. The practice was initiated in 1999 and the annual report is based on the reports submitted by all communities within the municipality.

Practice
The annual reports of the mayor of Radnevo, the mayors of mayoralties and the mayor s representatives are already regulated by the Regulations on the Structure and Functioning of the Municipal Administration, adopted in 2000 by the Radnevo Municipal Council.
The mayors of mayoralties report to their citizens at meetings in the smaller communities. The mayor of Radnevo works out his schedule in such a way as to be able to attend all public meetings in the mayoralties, where he also reports on his work. Depending on the problems of the specific community, an expert from the municipal administration and, in some cases, managers of service delivery companies, may attend the meetings. At the meetings, the citizens have the opportunity to freely express their opinions on the report, make recommendations for improvements, criticize weaknesses and mistakes and remind about forgotten promises.
At the end of the current or the beginning of the next year, a final public meeting is held at Radnevo. As it is impossible for all citizens to attend these meetings, the attendees include people who are very much interested in municipal issues, have unsolved problems and critical remarks to share with the municipal administration and the mayor. For those unable to attend, the Maritsa East municipal newspaper publishes the full report.
The report is widely promoted among the citizens, which makes the mayor respond to citizens even after the final meeting is held. All issues raised at the final meetings that were not answered immediately are summarized and filed. The municipal administration then holds a meeting to discuss the issues, which are then allocated between the individual structural units of the administration. The mayor exercises personal control on progress and, if necessary, provides specific assistance.
