The project idea of Hristo Smirnenski secondary school for participation in the initiative e-Europe (Information society for everyone) of the European commission, Lisbon 2000 was approved at the third session of Community forum Program in Gurkovo municipality . Electronic library is a necessity for the future virtual libraries, which will be established in the country .

Main goal: Creating preconditions and introducing innovative educational technologies, particularly electronic education for the students in Hristo Smirnenski secondary school in Gurkovo.

Main activities: Construction works in the premise, appropriate for electronic library; purchasing and installation of PVC joinery , parquet floor and upper planking of a ceiling in order to create suitable micro - surrounding for users of the electronic library; decoration of the room and aesthetic arrangement; purchasing the necessary technique; gaining knowledge and skills for work with modern information and communication technologies by students and teachers; archiving school documentation.

Achievements and results: In the electronic library there are available lectures and exercises on the main school subjects, additional information for the educational process, school documentation, scientific and feature movies relevant to the educational program. 305 students use their free time beneficially thanks to the good conditions of the library.
