The requirements in Law for regional development set new challenges to the municipalities. The law regulates elaboration of local programs for a long-term period till year 2013, which should be consistent with the needs of each municipality.

For elaboration of the municipal plan for regional development, in Botevgrad municipality was held a discussion and the positions of the guidance of the municipality, head of departments and employees, engaged in this direction were clarified in advance. There were many ideas in the elaboration so that it could be exact, clear and precise. To make possible the process of saving the data in a special software product we needed good preliminary preparation. There were formed working teams including employees of the municipal administration, economic directors of the municipality and citizens. They were divided into directions

General data for the municipality, including inhabited regions, correlation rural urban population, number of households, demographic indexes natural and mechanical growth of the population.

Programs, plans, verifications and reports of Labor Bureau and so on.

Indexes quantitative and qualitative for some municipal functions education, culture, social cares, ecology, healthcare, institutional and field environment and others.

Each of the teams developed a strategy preparing the materials

Each one of the working groups made the maximum and directed its efforts in a concrete sphere, which helped for full clarification of the subject

Human resources in the municipality were maximally used in order to be accomplished a better development in the future

Generalized results gave notion for the aspect of planning and the real needs of long-term defining of the priorities of the municipality

The prepared materials could be used despite for the plan for regional development but into other fields of work of the municipal administration.

Once again was confirmed that the team work contributes for full and detailed clarification of the problems. The results could be seen in direct work.
