Partners in the project were the Community Center "Christo Botev" - village of Biala, Community Center "Yurii Gagarin" - village of Novachevo, Youth Center - city of Sliven, Youth Center for Regional Development, Regional Inspectorate of MES.

The aim of the project was the participation of people from the small villages in the celebration of the Europe Day .

The Balkan villages Biala and Novachevo were the hosts of a beautiful celebration, which a lot of people from these two villages worked for representatives of the City Council of the village of Biala and the City Council of the village of Novachevo, Cultural Center "Christo Botev" and Cultural Center "Yurii Gagarin", Primary School "Hadji Dimitar" and Primary School "Nazam Hikmet", Nursery Schools "Iglika" and "Slantze". Through the rich cultural program and the information events the citizens of the valley of Biala and their guests became part of the celebration.

The mayоr of the Municipality Mr. Yordan Lechkov inaugurated the celebration. There were also the vice mayors of the Municipality, representatives of the regional authorities of Sliven, chairmen, mayors of neighbour villages, school teachers, representatives from the community of Biala and Novachevo. Among them was Stefan Djagarov, the brother of the famous Bulgarian poet George Djagarov, who was born in the village of Biala. The guests were welcomed by the mayor of the village Mr. Jelio Iankov. He spoke about the social - economic situation of the region and the most urgent problems. It was noted that the communities of Biala and Novachevo take to the event with great enthusiasm and participate in the cleaning of streets, yards and all the region. A greeting note from the governor of the region of Sliven, Mrs. Christina Tcholakova was read. During the official ceremony of inauguration within the celebrations were awarded the winners from the competition for writing an essay and for children drawing on the subject "Europe in my native region", where children from the two villages participated. Among the most interesting activities was a big business meeting "Priorities and possibilities of the mountain regions", a youth debate "It s better to live in an ecologically clean village than in an overcrowded city", sport competitions under the motto "2004 - an year of education through sport in the EU", the carnival manifestations, the concerts of the Еnsemble for Bulgarian-Turkish folklore "Golden Group", the meeting of the regional leadership with the mayors of the villages in the mountain region and representatives of: the local business, some non-governmental organizations, the Regional Inspectorate of MES and the media in relation to the development of the village region.

The events were followed by exhibitions of traditional Bulgarian and Turkish meals/dishes and customary wares, as well as information stands like Info Europe in the Community Centers. The events in the two villages were attended by merely 2000 people.

The popularization of the EU among the local community, the increasing of information stock about the practical domains of the future membership of Bulgaria in the EU were achieved through the rich program of various information and cultural events on the following themes:

- It s better to live in an ecologically clean village then in an overcrowded city youth debates;

- What is Europe to me a drawing on the ground;

- 2004 an year of education through sport in EU sport competitions;

- The priorities and opportunities of the mountain regions in the community of Sliven a business meeting;

- From A to Z (a film about the EU);

- A carnival manifestation of book heroes;

- A gala concert of the Ensemble for Bulgarian - Turkish folklore Golden Group.
