The Tutrakan Tourist Information Center offers informational, consultant, coordinating, as well as advertising and technical services, connected to the alternative tourism in the municipality of Tutrakan. Through its activities, the Center attempts to motivate the population to make a better use of the given natural, architectural, and historical resources in order to develop alternative tourism in the region. The Center provides assistance to innovative citizens of the municipality, owners in the resort and entertainment business, so that tourism can take a serious place in the economic life of the region.

A kindergarten s task is to contribute to the development and education of active individuals with a wide variety of interests. For this purpose, a kindergarten should be able to provide esthetical functional and renovated technical environment, which would ensure possibilities for early socialization of bilingual children. The project implemented as part of the Danube River Initiative Program of the Foundation for Local Government Reform and the US Agency for International Development aimed at the creation of a favourable environment for children s education through various activities.

The project is based on Municipality of Elhovo s experience. The idea is to develop appropriate practices in growing, processing and selling herbs locally. The project provides a new source of income for unemployed and poor people, especially Roma people and Bulgarian muslims. It also stimulates an active market mechanism aimed at dealing with unemployment with the involvement of local authorities and the public, and creates a new environment-friendly attitude in the use of natural resources.

Nauka Community Culture Center, supported by the Municipality of Lovech, finds a way to overcome its difficult financial situation, at the same time remaining true to its original spirit and idea and putting effort into important common good activities. Traditional agricultural activities in the Lovech region are being revived, and the profit from them is used for funding the Culture Center s activity. In this way the Center creates new jobs and a long term alternative funding source for the local people.

The Devin Area Guarantee Fund was established under UNDP and is managed by the Devin Business Center. The Fund provides guarantees on bank loans to small companies or family businesses owned by women, as well as business training and consulting services to company owners. So far, the Fund has provided guarantees on 12 loans. As a result of this, the companies that were financed have established 64 new long-term jobs.
