Foundation for Local Government Reform (FLGR) was co-organizer of the Conference "Infrastructural Projects, Bulgaria 2007 – Status and Perspectives". The event was held on 14 and 15 March, 2007, in Sofia as a part of the annual Bulgarian Construction Week.
Mr. Assen Gagaouzov, Minister of Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, and Mr. Petar Moutafchiev, Minister of Transport addressed the Conference.
Organizers of the Conference were the newspapers Dnevnik and Stritelstvo/Gradat (Diary and Construction/City). Having in mind the profound working contacts of FLGR with the municipalities and the image that the organization has built among them and the desire of the media to attract and to work jointly with the municipalities, FLGR was invited as a co-organizer of the second day of the event.
The topics, discussed on the 15 March, 2007, were:
- Actual infrastructural problems of Municipality of Sofia (presented by Mr. Petar Dikov, Chief Architect of the capital city);
- Municipal infrastructure management (presented by Mrs. Anoaneta Mateeva, City Links Program Coordinator, FLGR, and Mrs. Abadzhieva, Chief Architect of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo);
- The interaction between landscape planning and the municipal infrastructure development (presented by Mr. Belin Mollov, advisor to the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, and Mrs. Neikova, Chief Architect of the Municipality of Stara Zagora);
- Wastewater treatment plants under ISPA – characteristics and weaknesses. Specifics in carrying out infrastructural projects (presented by Mr. Plamen Nikoforov, Department Director, Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Mr. Blagoy Kozarev, CEO, RaiCommerce Construction, and Mr. Milen Dimitrov, Ekobulpak Company procurator );
- Specifics and practices in preparation of an infrastructural project in the context of the EU Structural Funds (presented by prof. Evgeni Tsolov, Sofia University).
Representatives of the Ministries of Regional Development and Public Works, of Transport, of Environment and Water, mayors, vice mayors, chairmen of municipal councils, universities, leading companies, business organizations and associations, reputable experts in the sphere of infrastructure from Bulgaria and abroad.
