Floods and storms in Bulgaria have killed 20 persons since June and an estimated 12,000 people rendered homeless. More than 220 bridges have fallen down and prevent normal communication. The damage was said to exceed 630 million dollars, and more than 2,5 million people have been affected by the worst floods in the past 60 years.

The Foundation for local government reform decided to support small and affected by the torrential rainfalls municipalities of Gorna Malina, Ihtiman, Kostenets, Mizia and Smyadovo by providing the European Integration Departments with computer equipment. The idea is to optimize the communication between these municipalities and the central government administration in their project work on rehabilitation of damages and losses. The donation will be provided with the support of USAID at the end of September 2005.
