South-East European Forum on Waste Management, Recycling, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, 28-30 March 2012, Sofia, Bulgaria

The South-East European Forum incorporates Conference and Exhibition on Waste Management, Recycling and Environment - ‘Save the Planet’, Congress and Exhibition on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and SEE Solar Exhibition. Green energy and intelligent waste management are among the key priorities of the EU. The Bulgarian municipalities play an active role in the achievement of these goals. The event aim is to outline investment opportunities in South-East Europe and promote good environmental practices, the implementation of which will speed up the development in the Region. A new accent is the competition ‘Best Eco Municipality’ 2012. The goal is to provide incentives for municipalities and businesses to reduce and divert their waste and increase resource management as well as to strengthen awareness of energy and energy-related climate issues and to recognise those municipalities that are putting in a special effort.

The Conference and Congress

High-level speakers from 20 countries will participate in the program of the parallel 3-day Forum. The hot topics like EE & RES financing, public-private partnerships, energy efficiency, biomass resources, bionergy, waste management, recycling and waste-to-energy will be included in the agenda. One of the most popular approaches to waste management is prevention, which will be a focus of a special session. Experts from the Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and sustainable Resource management (ACR+) will introduce concrete examples from Malta, France and the UK. A discussion Forum 'Photovoltaics' will be held as a side event and will provide the attendees with the latest updates on the PV market development, future perspectives and risks.

The event format is enriched by many parallel initiatives: a Workshop ‘Italian Integrated Waste Management Experience’, organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria; the Round Table with municipality representatives; a Workshop ‘Austrian experience in EE implementation in industry – results’.

The Exhibitions

Leading companies from over 18 countries will present waste treatment equipment, recycling systems, new energy efficient solutions; electric vehicles, solar PV and thermal -, bio-, wind-, hydro energy systems, etc. More than 7000 professional visitors on a global scale are expected to get involved.

The efficient event format and strong international participation will ensure more valuable contacts and fresh business ideas.
