The fund of the First Bulgarian Community Center keeps unique books and documents from the 16th, 17th, and the 18th centuries. At the fourth session of the Svishtov Public Forum, the delegates appreciated the need for these documents to be used, however without any risk of their destruction. In order for the fund to be preserved, the Forum initiated steps for restoration, conservation, and digitalization of the Community Center treasures.
The project was financed by Foundation for Local Government Reform and the Municipality of Svishtov. Project partners were: Municipal Departments of Education and Culture, Business Center Svishtov.
The first step of the project was making special boxes for preservation of the unique books and documents. Afterwards, the library premises were repaired. The project also included mounting of wooden and metal cabinets where the exponents would be kept. The final step of the project is creation of favorable conditions that would allow public use of the digital copies of the ancient books and documents.
