On 21st February, 2007, 13 Roma families received their Housing Orders and the keys to their new homes. Being socially disadvantaged, they fully enjoyed their first real houses with normal living conditions, provided by the Municipality of Pazardjik.
The Municipal leadership envisioned the change of living conditions in the Roma residential area ‘Iztok’ to be implemented from the periphery to the center in order to stop the illegal construction activities and to legalize some of the already existing buildings.

The development of a financial management plan for the municipal roads entails the introduction of a systematic pavement inventory model, the calculation of the funding needed and the adoption of clear investment planning priorities. In reality, it related to creating better functional organization. The long-term goal is the Municipality, together with the utility companies, to formulate and implement a road maintenance strategy at minimum costs .

The project team managed to mobilise the people from the village into a common initiative, in order to renovate an old and out-of-use room within the village library, which turned into the first and only for the village Communication Club, where young people find interesting ways to make a better use of their leisure time through access to computers and possibilities to take part in computer training courses. The Club provides new opportunities for the elderly people in the village as well they can get access to various administrative services and participated in a new type of social events. So far their favourite form of entertainment is watching Bulgarian movies, once a week at the Club.

The Municipality of Peshtera is famous for its mixed ethnic structure of the population; the largest ethnic groups are these of the Bulgarians, the Roma, the Turkish and the A rmuni. With the implementation of the Ethnic Culture Club project has been encouraged the active citizen participation and equal representation of minority ethnic groups within the local community. Through a series of meetings, debates, training seminars, on-site visits and study tours, and involvement in the process of development of a stable institutional framework for participation of all ethic groups in the decision-making, the local social capacity has been strengthened and the first initiatives for common actions of the informal leaders - stimulated.

The resort communities in the municipalities of Teteven, Troyan and Apriltsi began promoting themselves under a common name. The creation of the Balkania tourism region was announced to representatives of the tourism industry and journalists at a meeting in Sofia in October, 2003. The name, Balkania, symbolizes the location of the region, both in the heart of the Balkan Mountain Range and in the center of Bulgaria.

The municipality of Shoumen has created Bulgaria s first Advisory Council for the management of its international relationships through the Sister Cities (United States) and Town Twinning (Europe) programs. This Council is comprised of a diverse selection of non-municipal and municipal members, including minority, NGO, and business sectors. This Council is an attempt to better distribute and locate exchange programs with international partners, and then to promote these relations throughout Shoumen.

This project provided equal access to information and practical skills to work with new technologies to children and adults in the village of Pchelin. Equal opportunities for access to the labour market and increased competitiveness have been created. Within the project framework a new computer room has been renovated (in the Community Centre) and 50 people have undergone long-term computer training. The designed project activities created a favourable environment for skills development, initiatives and teamwork among the local community. The implementation of the project had a strong effect and improved the self-confidence of the young people in the village of Pchelin.

The project aimed at increasing the general knowledge, understanding and affirming an active position of the pupils from the elementary schools towards topics of importance to the young people, but which are not covered within the educational process and regular classes: aggression, conflicts, and harmful addictions. The project helped the establishment of voluntary groups of children in all the schools, applying the principle children teach their friends . The main focus of the training covered the learning by doing approach, teamwork, interactive learning methods, role games, brainstorming, discussions, debates and round table meetings.
